The undercard fight for the upcoming Mayweather vs. Ortiz welterweight fight was finally set, and the four fights is surely a masterpiece to Golden Boy when it comes to action and matchmaking. Mayweather and Ortiz will meet in the main event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and the fight alone will sell the pay-per-view to over a million homes. There's no way the fight will underperform over pay-per-view, as Mayweather's absences lately made his heart grow fonder for his dedicated fans, and he wants to give them some action. Here's the scheduled undercard fight for Mayweather vs. Ortiz main event.

WBC Junior Middleweight Title,  12 Rounds
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez" (37-0-1, 27 KO) vs. Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KO)

A physical mismatch on paper, but has fine potential as a fight. Alvarez, a 21 year old boxer, is exagerrating when he says Gomez, 30, is one of the best in the world  but I guess we can't judge him because it was based on his opinion.

WBC Junior Welterweight Title, 12 Rounds
Erik Morales (51-7-0, 35 KO) vs. Jorge Barrios (50-4-1, 35 KO)

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRYu_WFTEifKanN416pbWD3panM9_WGIMBRcsMG-NDzsqArJka9ffdZOHdTIB1Xph42Y2fjdqwat8SzXNJyoFPNOGf-MwRl1qBkLcGC4GvLNFpBKfio6UD9iT8TtoywvVb4Hk-A0UmTF_F/s1600/Mayweather-vs-Ortiz-Fight-Live-Streaming-Online.jpg
A great match up for Golden Boy. Two great fighters known to give some sort of action. I'm quite sure that this is going to be a war, a war between great fighters and I'm sure that in the succeeding rounds of this fight, we will able to see some knock down or something.

Junior Welterweights, 10 Rounds
Jessie Vargas (16-0-0, 9 KO) vs. Josesito Lopez (29-3-0, 17 KO)

Here's a good fight without any issues whatsoever. Vargas, 22, has recently blown through Vivian Harris and Walter Estrada in his last two fights. It wasn't an amazing win after all, but they were solid for where he was at the present, and now he wants to take on tough fighter, Lopez, 27 years old. You might be familiar with Lopez if you're  a Friday Night Fights regular. There are some things to complain about this match up, but I guess the match up speaks for himself. They want to give some action.

Mayweather cannot sit on the rank any longer?

After almost two year layoff, Floyd "Money" MayweatheLinkr is back to take his privilege among the pound for pound elite boxers with his Mayweather vs Ortiz. He has received much condemnation after not entertaining any prospective offers after a decision wins over Shane Mosley in May of 2010. However as Manny Pacquiao maintain his supremacy of the welterweight division and boxing as a whole, Mayweather cannot sit on the rank any longer.

His opponent is no sprawl however not nearly at Mayweathers' level. Victor Ortiz is best known for his most current victory over Andre Berto last April. Both fighters were down multiple times in what showed to be an electrifying fight. Although Ortiz showed his strength, he was also caught with shattering power punches in the fight and is known for being defenseless in the ring. Nevertheless Ortiz and Mayweather will be an exciting fight of this year.

Mayweather has established time and again a layoff does not disturb him, as he conquered Juan Manuel Marquez in 2009 after almost two years away from the ring. There goes Ortiz only real chance in this fight. Although he has a tough chin, Ortiz will need to find the vague Mayweather adequate to wrench out a decision, closely impossible given Floyd's defensive expertise. Berto looked slow and flat footed, while Mayweather can hang on the ropes and still make you miss, a real defense expert. Mayweather probably will win with his weird timing, landing left right combinations and finding openings, disassembling his opponent over time.

For Ortiz, he must put on the heaviness and hope Mayweather is distressed as Andre Berto and Lamont Peterson were. Although it’s a strange one, Ortiz only tells one way and that is onward, to try and adjust styles against the best technical boxer. While Floyd shakes off the rust, Ortiz requires going to work in the early rounds as Mosley did. While Mosley was incapable to maintain his offense into the later rounds, Ortiz is the younger stronger man and in his physical prime, different from Mosley.Although not pleasing to the average fan, a clash like this is paradise for the boxing purists.

Promoter need extra effort for Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight

Ortiz is a worthy opponent for Mayweather

photo of ortiz for Mayweather vs ortiz fightAnother update for Mayweather vs Ortiz : Victor Ortiz will come to the ring again on September 17th to defend for the WBC welterweight title. For Ortiz, this fight is all his concerns. It is considered as his highpoint of his boxing career, win or lose Victor fight to make a great pact of money. With a win, he becomes the most popular name in boxing and will continually be famous as the one who defeated “Money Mayweather" his first defeat. With a win, the stage is set for potential amalgamation battle with other top welterweight’s titleholder such as Manny Pacquiao and Vyacheslav Senchenko (WBA Champ). For a young boxer like Ortiz, a big fight such as this could boost his career forward extensively.

Although he is the current WBC title holder, Ortiz's star power is dwarfed in evaluation to Mayweather's and he will be incoming the fight as the vibrant second best. Just months detached from a tough fight with welterweight contender Andre Berto, questions retained unanswered concerning Ortiz's skill to accomplished excellent battle. In his most bouts, he managed to bead both Lamont Peterson and Berto twice in their separate bouts. Lamont Peterson wants to fight to a draw despite a 10 to 7 round, and Berto held on to fight 12 rounds losing unanimously.

In Mayweather, Ortiz will be fronting a far greater boxer and defender; the probabilities of out pointing Mayweather over the course of 12 rounds are small. Ortiz tries to attach primary and often in an effort to stop the fight early and use any ring rust Mayweather may be having to his improvement. That method appeared to have a degree of success when Shane Mosley associated early with power punches beside Floyd. The hard thing was that Shane wasn't able to press his advantage, Floyd improved and continuing to devastate Shane for 10 rounds straight.

Boxing needs "winner-takes-all" not "guaranteed purse"

Last Saturday, we all saw that scandal done by Floyd "Money" Mayweather and "Vicious" Victor Ortiz to the sport of boxing. Millions of boxing fans around the globe, who watched the fight, say that it was a scripted or staged or drama fight because of several reasons.

A clear indication that the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight was a scripted fight is that Ortiz, who used to be a clean fighter in all of his previous fight, took off like a NASA spaceship after he cornered Mayweather. Using his head, he clearly hit him in the chin and Floyd responded as if he was very hurt. Referee Joe Cortez stopped the action and Ortiz hugged and kissed Floyd, which is gay thing to do for a fighter of his type. Cortez brought Ortiz to the middle of the ring (and Floyd to the corner) to deduct a point to the scorecards.

Now all three were in the middle of ring. Victor continue to apologize to Floyd and tried to hug him again which is still very unorthodox for a fighter, even a young 24-year-old, to do. Before Cortez was able to say "fight" or "go" because he was still looking at the judges or timekeeper, Mayweather hit Ortiz with a left-hook and right-straight - both punches, in my opinion, don't look very strong to KO the likes of Ortiz - and Victor went down to the canvass easily. Cortez then reacted to the knockdown by counting from one to ten and Victor no longer stood up.

Was that a good acting job? No, it is not. WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) fighters do a better job in acting; I can still remember my old-time favorites The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker, when I used to watch their entertaining drama fights.

The problem with boxing is this. There are promotional companies such as Top Rank, Golden Boy and Don King that makes the fights happen. If boxing is like in the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), where the winner takes home the bacon and the loser just take a few cash for his performance and efforts in training, it will never die. After the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight, I think I will be very meticulous when it comes to buying the pay-per-view.

Upcoming pay-per-view fights are Hopkins vs Dawson, Pacquiao vs Marquez and Margarito vs Cotto, which I think will give me a second thought not to stop on boxing. Donaire vs Narvaez is also an interesting fight to watch.

The guaranteed purse makes boxing a BS. Fighters like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao brings home more than $30 million after the fight, win or lose. Boxing will be better if the winner takes all the cash if he wins the fight. This makes sense for us boxing fans because we know we will surely see an all out war, not a drama or scripted fight. A small amount will go to the loser for his training camp and for his time spent during the promotional tour and publicity of the fight.

I strongly believe - and millions out there - that the Ortiz vs Mayweather fight was a staged fight. Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions were the directors/producers, Floyd Mayweather was the main actor, and Victor Ortiz and Joe Cortez were the supporting actors.

If it was a drama fight, sad to say, they did a poor job. If it was a true fight, good for them but not for the boxing fans.

It is all about the Benjamins. You give Ortiz $2.5 million - the same amount he will earn if he fights several other boxers, not the likes of Mayweather - head butt like a missile and get hit with a couple of soft shots and BOOM! You have a drama... I mean a fight... or whatever.

The bottom line is this; they both get the money they DO NOT deserve after their fight. The real losers are the people, not them.

Results, Replay and Reaction

The mega-event that featured undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr and Mexican-American Victor Ortiz was a success except for, in my opinion, the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight. Even though many are not happy with the outcome of the main-event, boxing fans still appreciate the very entertaining fights, end results and who won.

The first televised fight was the Vargas vs Lopez fight. Vargas managed to win against Lopez by SD (split decision) in a very entertaining fight. The official cards were 95-94 Lopez, 96-93 Vargas and 95-94 for Vargas but many thought Lopez won the fight.

After a slow start, Mexican-legend Erik Morales came back to life in the middle rounds. He now won his fourth weight division title as he pound down undefeated 21-year-old Pablo Cesar Cano in a bloody fight. Because Cano can no longer continue to handle Morales' barrage of punches, referee Kenny Bayless decided to stop the fight in the 10th round.

In the third televised PPV fight, Saul Alvarez started out early and knocked Alfonso Gomez down in the first round. The following rounds were a slugfest and fans were very entertained with the performance of the two pugilists. In the sixth round, Alvarez hit Gomez with a solid punch that led to more solid combinations. Because Gomez seems to be out of control and cannot defend himself, referee Wayne Hedgpeth decided to stop the fight.

In the main-event, Mayweather vs Ortiz, both Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz came out strong. Ortiz was the aggressor while Mayweather was the counter-puncher. In the fourth round, Victor hit Floyd with a solid punch and brought him to the ropes. He was so excited and jumped at Mayweather's chin using his head. Referee Joe Cortez penalized 1 point to Victor in round four for the headbutt. Victor decided to ask for apology at Mayweather and kissed him but the latter punched him in the chin while Referee Cortez was not watching. Ortiz was knocked out in the fourth round, after Cortez finished his ten counts.

My reaction: The fight seemed to be a "staged" fight and I believed many out there agree with me. Because Ortiz will bring home a huge pay after the fight, Mayweather may have convinced him to do that thing and end the fight fast. Referee Cortez did not even say "fight" or "go" yet, he was still looking at the judges. If it was a "drama fight", the acting of Mayweather and Ortiz were very bad.

The Mayweather vs Ortiz result, in my own opinion, is bad for boxing. It's too good to be true, but I think it's a pure scandal to the sport. All the other fights were sensational!

Even Larry Merchant was not satisfied with the results. That was a controversial fight because Ortiz was not protecting himself yet and there was no go signal from the third man in the ring.

It is Fight Time!

Mayweather vs Ortiz fight time is finally here. Answered today will be the many questions boxing fans around the world wants to know. Will Mayweather still be the same veteran boxer and win against a young southpaw? Will Ortiz pull an upset on fight night and retain his crown?

It is fight time and there is no stopping it. Trending in Facebook, Twitter and Search Engines right now are topics about Mayweather vs Ortiz (held at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada) and the heavy undercard that includes Alvarez vs Gomez (held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California), Morales vs Cano (MGM Grand) and Lopez vs Vargas (MGM Grand).

Because the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight happens today, the weekend after the Mexican Independence Day, Mexican boxing fans will surely fill the two sites that will hold the events. Floyd Mayweather is the heavy favorite and the betting odds are in the middle of -600 and -800. Five months ago, Victor Ortiz may have won and acquired his WBC Welterweight belt against Andre Berto but he is still the underdog with betting odds between +400 and +525.

Televised on pay-per-view, the HD (High Definition) signal in the United States costs $69.99 while the ordinary signal costs $54.99. In the UK (United Kingdom), Primetime will distribute the live streaming at £14.95.

The fight time is 9:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm PT / 2:00 am BST (UK) / 9:00 am PH. The fight will be very entertaining and boxing fans are eagerly desirous to watch this mega-event live at the MGM Grand or Staples Center or on television. Some people are also expected to watch the fight at nearby restaurants, cinemas or a friend's house to save on the costs and save the money for the upcoming Pacquiao vs Marquez fight. Check the order of events, official referee and judges, official poster and official weights so you will guided accordingly.

After a few ticks of the clock, the televised undercard fights will start and the Mayweather vs Ortiz will follow it. Estimated earning of Floyd Mayweather after the fight is above $30 million, depending on the par-per-view sales while Victor Ortiz's guaranteed salary is only $2.5 million plus incentives on the PPV buys.

The long wait is finally over, Mayweather and Ortiz fights today

Announced first in April 2011, the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight will finally happen today. After Victor Ortiz's (29 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws, 22 knockouts) win against previously undefeated and reigning WBC Welterweight title-holder, Andre Berto, Floyd Mayweather Jr (41 wins, 0 loss, 25 knockouts) climb up the squared circle and presented himself to be the next opponent of the newly crowned champion.

The long wait is finally here. Mayweather versus Ortiz will happen tonight inside the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Boxing fans are already anxious to hear Michael Buffer, the ring announcer, to deliver his popular boxing spiel - "Are you ready to rumble?"

The betting odds of boxing are all favoring undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr but 24-year-old Victor Ortiz is unfazed of his underdog status. He is confident that after the fight, he will still be the WBC Welterweight Champion of the world.

Tonight, catch the round by round live updates on the Ortiz vs Mayweather mega-fight. It is expected that that jam-packed crowd inside the venue and the millions of fans watching on HBO live streaming will be entertained by the fireworks performance of the two boxers and their undercards.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is, without any doubt, one of the best boxers of all time. His perfect record and performance in the ring speaks for himself. Tagged as an arrogant trash-talker who has nothing to do but make alibis so he will not fight Manny Pacquiao, he is still one of the most sought-after pugilists today.

Tonight, Victor Ortiz will try to prove his critics wrong. After his fight against Marcos Rene Maidana in 2009, many deemed him incapable of fighting the big fights. After scoring some vicious knockdowns in the early rounds, Ortiz suffered a KO in the sixth round. Because of the worst cut above his eye, the referee decided to discontinue the fight and gave the victory to Maidana. In April this year, 4-to-1 underdog Victor Ortiz got the better of Andre Berto by scoring a couple of knockdowns that led to his unanimous decision victory.

Against the Grand Rapids, Michigan native, Mexican-American Victor Ortiz will do everything in his power to pull one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport, comparable to the Tyson-Douglas fight, which happened years ago.

Today, Mayweather vs Ortiz will surely be the trending topic in the internet. Facebook, Twitter, Google+ among others will be full of comments about Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz.

Official Weights and Photos

In front of a jam-packed crowd, the boxers featured in the Star Power event finally tipped the scales to show the boxing world their official weights prior to the fight. Notable people who joined the boxers in the weigh-in were Golden Boy Promotions owner Oscar De La Hoya and CEO Richard Schaefer, Michael Buffer as the announcer, Keith Kaizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission for the official weights and Jose Sulaiman, the president of World Boxing Council.

Official weights:
Jessie Vargas - 142 lbs vs. Josesito Lopez - 140.5 lbs
Erik Morales - 140 lbs vs. Pablo Cesar Cano - 140 lbs
Victor Ortiz - 147 lbs vs Floyd Mayweather - 146 1/2 lbs

Fight Analysis

The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight is very much in the air now. Many boxing fans waited for Floyd Mayweather's comeback fight - and they were expecting it to be against Manny Pacquiao - but Floyd chose another southpaw, Victor Ortiz. Searches at Google about Ortiz vs Mayweather is very overwhelming now, we can really see the increase in the search results in the United States and other parts of the world.

Floyd Mayweather's patented shoulder-roll defense will surely frustrate Victor on Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz fight night. Even though their camp reviewed the tape repeatedly, Mayweather's defense will still be the best in the sport. "Pretty Boy" used to be the moniker of Mayweather because no one has really dismantled his face yet. One opponent after another, Floyd has used the shoulder-roll as a technique to deny the onslaught oppositions' give him.

Danny Garcia believes that there is a solution on Floyd's shoulder-roll and that is to bring him to the ropes. Ortiz will then fight in close distance. If Victor can make it a phone-booth fight, he has a chance of landing a huge uppercut that can surely hurt Mayweather.

Not only Mayweather is a great defensive fighter, he is also a great counter-puncher. He has proven this against Juan Manuel Marquez, a well-known counter-puncher, whom he defeated in a lopsided fight. Ortiz's answer to the counter-punching ability of Floyd will be to move forward and fight in the closest distance possible.

Ortiz is a southpaw, which means he uses the left hand with greater skill than the right, and many boxers do not like fighting a southpaw. Floyd has faced six of them and struggled - Corley and Judah were some of the notable boxers who really hurt Mayweather. Victor has knockout power in both his hands and Mayweather should be very careful in the first few rounds of the fight. Ortiz has scored a knock down in all the opponents he has faced and Floyd may be an addition to his victims.

On Mayweather vs Ortiz fight night, it is likely Victor will give Floyd the worst beating of his career but the latter will still emerge victorious. I am expecting a unanimous decision victory for Mayweather. How do you see fight happening?

Ortiz vs Mayweather weigh in is on September 16 at 2:45pm PT.  Watch the Mayweather vs Ortiz Replay and you will surely say that my expectations were correct.

As much as we wanna see Mayweather get washed, I don't think it's likely to happen against Ortiz

Numerous boxing fans believed that Victor Ortiz would be "Vicious" enough to hand Floyd "Money" Mayweather his first defeat in his 16-year professional boxing career. I know a lot of boxing fans out there agree with me that as much as we want to see the undefeated American suffer his first loss, it is less likely to happen on Saturday in the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight.

Floyd Mayweather Jr may be the villain of the sport but he has also made it what it is today - $70 for HD (High Definition) pay-per-view, not giving the fans what they want by not fighting Pacquiao, long absences from the sport is still fine, random drug testing and a lot more. Obviously, he is one of the best boxer-promoters of this generation who knows how to promote his fights blatantly - including the upcoming Mayweather vs Ortiz.

Mayweather's date with Victor Ortiz is on Sept 17 at 6pm Pacific Time (or 9pm Eastern Time). The event dubbed as Star Power features entertaining undercards' Alvarez vs Gomez, Morales vs Cano and Vargas vs Lopez. Mayweather vs Ortiz will be the main event.

Twenty-four year old Victor Ortiz [won 29 (KO 22) + lost 2 (KO 1) + drawn 2 = 33] may be the current WBC (World Boxing Council) Welterweight title-holder but his chances at winning against the Grand Rapids native is low.

Many people do not like Floyd Mayweather [won 41 (KO 25) + lost 0 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 41] because of his personality. Some of the reasons why many disapprove him is that he does not respect is father, as seen in Mayweather vs Ortiz 24 7 Episode 1, he has unlimited alibis so he can't fight Manny Pacquiao, he has multiple pending legal cases, he is too arrogant with his fame and fortune, among many others.

Intelligent people do not judge Mayweather because they do not know him personally and they do not know what the issue really is.

On Saturday, millions of boxing fans from all over the world want to see Mayweather lost to Ortiz; and they do not want to see a unanimous decision, they want to see a knockout loss that would surely bring embarrassment to Floyd who has always shown self-importance.

The problem is this: Ortiz is too young for Mayweather, who is at the prime of his career. The second problem is what will happen to the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight if Mayweather losses to Ortiz?

Catch the Mayweather vs Ortiz weigh in and Mayweather vs Ortiz 24 7 Episode 4 on Friday, Sept 16th. Mayweather vs Ortiz fight is on September 17.
