Ortiz can win if he capitalizes on Floyd's early round mistakes

Many of the boxing fans around the globe are not really convinced that Victor Ortiz can win against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr on September 17. Victor is the heavy underdog in the forthcoming Mayweather vs Ortiz fight even though he is the current WBC Welterweight Winner who is going to defend the belt.

Two weeks and a half more to go, Floyd Mayweather will once again prove to the world that he is the pound-for-pound king, comparable to Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather is undoubtedly the best when it comes to defense and the only one who came close to beating him was Mexican-American Oscar de la Hoya.

We all know that all human being commits mistakes. Floyd may be one of the Gods of boxing but he is still a human being who has its own flaws. In his recent fights, boxing experts saw the mistakes of Mayweather but his opponents just barely noticed it. Obviously, when you are on top of the ring fighting against one of the best in the sport, you won't notice some of his errors.

On September 17, Victor Ortiz will prove to the world that he is unlike other boxers Floyd has faced. He will try to capitalize on Mayweather's mistakes especially in the first few rounds were the latter tends to relax a bit and study his opponent's moves.

If Mayweather commits any mistakes, he will surely pay. Victor is very good at exploiting the flaws of his opponents. In his recent fight, he showed the world that he is a world-class boxer by defeating the previously undefeated Andre Berto and acquiring his belt. This is the same belt he will defend against Floyd in mid-September.

Sixteen months ago, in Mayweather's last fight against Sugar Shane Mosley, he was wobbled in the first few rounds because Mosley saw a lot of openings in Floyd's defense. Probably because of age, Shane was not able to finish Floyd or even knocked him out. If Victor Ortiz was on that fight, after he hit Mayweather with a solid hook straight to the chin, it would surely be lights out for Floyd.

Victor Ortiz has a heart of a champion. Even though many boxing experts believed that he is no match for the Grand Rapids, Michigan native, he is still hopeful that he can pull the biggest upset in the history of the sport.

Forty-one boxers - most of them are well-known in Mayweather's recent fights - came short in winning against Floyd Jr. They all say almost the same thing, that is, they are stronger and faster than Floyd but all of them were not successful.

Just well over a couple of weeks from now, we will see Mayweather vs Ortiz. My money is on Mayweather but I'm not really sure with my decision. Ortiz is a strong determined fighter who has a huge chance against Floyd if the latter commits a lot of errors in the early rounds.

Good luck to both fighters, may you give the boxing fans one unforgettable night of boxing.

Ortiz added.

Ortiz doesn't think Mayweather is looking past him. He believes it is good because he wants the best Mayweather when they fight. "I don't want a silhouette of him. I don't want a shadow of Mayweather. I want the Mayweather that destroyed 41 of his opponents to show up that night."

A Simple and Easy Warm-up for Mayweather Jr?

Ever since Floyd widely declared his fight with Victor Ortiz, there has been a lot of debate as to whether or not Victor Ortiz is indeed a worthwhile opponent. Mayweather vs Ortiz will be on September 17.

Ortiz is returning from his most impressive fight so far and is the present WBC Welterweight Champion. Hence, the 24 years old Kansas native fighter is as self-assured just like any in boxing and truly feels that he can win a scrap with Floyd Jr.

His fight with Andre Berto not just showed us that Ortiz definitely has the heart and intellectual strength, additionally it proved what his trainers sensed all throughout; that Victor Ortiz belonged within the welterweight division.

Even though Victor Ortiz boasts a fantastic knock-out ratio and he has injured every single foe he has encountered, even in loss, most boxing commentators have dismissed him as a easy tune-up for the ultimate bout with widely recognized P4P king, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.

Could a fight against Ortiz only a warm-up for Mayweather Jr, or perhaps is a way more dangerous match up than many realize?

Although a match up with this caliber may be a bit premature for this developing Hispanic boxer, Ortiz is incredibly confident and matches up effectively versus a uptight counter puncher who boxes out of the orthodox stance.

Any fighter which traditionally fights using the Michigan defensive style of rolling the shoulders usually has stylistic problems versus a southpaw, mainly because the defensive fighter rolls far from his opponent’s offensive punches. Whenever fighting a left handed fighter, the defensive counter-puncher normally finds himself moving into the backhand of the southpaw boxer.

To find a fighter like Floyd Mayweather Jr who generally doesn’t look at match up recording to prepare, this could offer several issues early in the Ortiz vs Mayweather fight, as being shown in May’s bout against Zab Judah.

In addition, for a defensive boxer, an effective assailant will always make life unpleasant within the ring. A boxer who depends on building distance like Floyd doesn’t choose to be pressed against the ropes, specifically against a greater and stronger fighter, as being shown in May’s bout with Jose Luis Castillo.

Victor Ortiz also is a genuine puncher. Floyd hasn’t fought against a fighter with this form of attacking expertise since Diego Corrales back in 2001. Though he took Chico to school, Floyd was 24 during the time and not 34. He also wasn’t coming off of a considerably long period of inactivity.

Although PBF hasn't displayed the harmful effects of his age or inactivity, when inspecting the match-up against Ortiz, these specifics have to be taken into account.

Even though Victor Ortiz answered his detractors with the outstanding success against former undefeated champion Andre Berto, he nevertheless has much to prove to many boxing commentators.

Victor Ortiz nevertheless hasn’t assured his obstructers that he is capable of performing next to a fighter having an evenly iron will. There are many constant pundits who still aren’t positive that Victor who crumbled mentally against tough Argentine Marcos Maidana has left the building.

What is also alarming could be the quantity of abuse Victor Ortiz took when he faced a wide punching foe like Marcos Maidana .

If the brick handed junior welterweight may hit an excellent percentage of shots up against the young Kansas boxer, Floyd could have tee time for 12 rounds, right? Perhaps.

Maidana had the aggresive one on his heels for a good portion of the match up, and although Mayweather has aggressive strength, it’s not really a given that he has the level of strength that could keep Ortiz honest for 12 rounds.

You will find a considerable amount of “what ifs” concerning this Mayweather vs Ortiz fight, but another thing is definite, if this bout in fact is fulfilled, Floyd should have much more honor than most are happy to give him.

Will Ortiz knock Mayweather out on Sept 17?

Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22KOs), the current WBC Welterweight Champion, will face Floyd Mayweather Jr (41-0, 25KOs) on September 17 in Las Vegas. He will put his belt on the line and he will do everything to bring it back home after the fight.

Victor, who became popular after defeating the undefeated Andre Berto in April of this year, is predicted to start strong in the forthcoming Mayweather vs Ortiz fight. He is predicted to be a patient boxer in the first and second round and will be all out in the following rounds. He expects to win by stoppage because he knows if the fight goes the distance his chance of winning is very small.

"The simple truth is, Mayweather has the difficult fight, not me. I'm going to destroy him, little by little, round by round, until the knockout," Ortiz told Edward Couich. "Mayweather is not someone that I had respect for when I was a kid. He was never one of my favorites. I knew that the day they put me in against him, I would finish his [undefeated] run." as written by Jhonny Gonzalez of BoxingScene.com.

"I think Mayweather has a few defeats already but they aren't on his record. Jose Luis Castillo and Oscar De La Hoya beat him. There have been a few [fighters] who had him hurt. Yes he was good and he was good at 130. But the day I arrived to 147, he was finished."

On the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight night, it will be the first time in 16 months since Floyd fought atop the squared circle. "Vicious" Victor Ortiz and his trainer Danny Garcia believes this will play a role in the fight. Based on the tale of the tape, there are no significant advantages over the other except for the young age of Ortiz.

"I'm not thinking about the ten years we have on Mayweather [24 to 34-years in age]. But when people are at the age of 23 to 26, they are at their strongest. Once you pass 30 to 33-years-old, you start to decline," Garcia said. "We're not thinking about his 16 months of inactivity, but obviously it's going to affect him. [Inactivity] affects everyone. Why wouldn't it affect him?"

Based on the 30-day pre-fight weigh-in of Mayweather and Ortiz, Floyd has the edge. He is only 2-lbs over the maximum welterweight limit of 147-lbs compared to Ortiz who needs to lose over 10 pounds.

This will be the first time Victor fights in a mega-event. He is now considered as Boxing's Newest Star while the undefeated Floyd Mayweather is considered as Boxing Superstar. Because both are stars, the Ortiz vs Mayweather fight is dubbed as Star Power: Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz.

On Saturday, September 17th, Mexican Descent Victor Ortiz will do everything to knock Floyd Mayweather out. He wants to pull the biggest upset in the history of boxing and be hailed as the first boxer to defeat boxing icon Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather is not looking past Ortiz

Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr believes that his upcoming bout versus "Vicious" Victor Ortiz will be very difficult. He knows Ortiz is a strong agile young fighter who recently won against an undefeated heavy bomber, Andre Berto. Floyd Jr is very much focused on the upcoming Mayweather vs Ortiz fight and he has no reasons why he should start thinking of his next opponent after this fight.

There were reports coming out that Floyd will fight Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines in 2013. But are you really sure the fight will happen? Unless there's a signed contract and the press tour has started, the mega-fight between boxing superstars Floyd Mayweather Jr and Pacman won't happen.

Mayweather is not looking past the Mayweather vs Ortiz bout. He is already on high gear in his training camp and he has already tapped the services of Sechew Powell and Deandre Latimore to be his sparring partners. Floyd needs southpaws who are hard punchers to spar with him so he will be able to adjust to the fighting style of Ortiz quickly.

Ortiz has a higher KO percentage than Mayweather. He will be putting his WBC belt on the line. The Ortiz vs Mayweather fight will be inside the 16,800-seating capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena and the venue is already sold-out. Tickets to the Mayweather-Ortiz fight are still available but the prices are a bit high at the black market.

Mayweather is predicted to win this bout, which many believed is comparable to the Mayweather-Hatton fight, but Ortiz will be very difficult. Ortiz has a higher chance of winning against Floyd compared to Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez whom Mayweather outclassed in his last two fights.

On September 17, let's see what will be the outcome of this much awaited fight. Bookmark this website to see exclusive videos and live streaming of Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz. Share it to your friends and families for free viewing on fight day.

Fight will be comparable to Floyd-Hatton

Many boxing experts predicted that the forthcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz will end via a late round stoppage or a unanimous decision; most of them are in favor of the undefeated Floyd Jr to win. Mayweather, who was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, now lives and trains in Las Vegas, where the fight dubbed as Star Power: Mayweather vs Ortiz will happen on September 17, 2011.

Based on the predictions, this mega-event, which is expected to garner over a million pay-per-view buys, will be comparable to Floyd Mayweather vs Ricky Hatton.

The Mayweather versus Hatton fight which happened on December 8, 2007 was one of the most entertaining fights in recent years.

Floyd and Ricky were both undefeated when they fought each other. In the first few rounds of their fight, Ricky was winning most of the rounds. In the middle rounds, Floyd started to unleash his barrage of punches after he discovered the fighting style of Hatton. In the 10th round, Mayweather hit Ricky with a solid hook to the chin - and it was an understatement - which made the whole world realize that Mayweather is not only an entertaining boxer who talks trash outside the ring but a warrior who knows how to adjust to his opponent's style.

In the upcoming fight, Ortiz will come out strong as expected. He is younger and naturally bigger than Floyd so he will use these advantages in the first few rounds of the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight. Just like what Hatton did to Floyd when they fight, Ortiz will try everything to knock Floyd out in the first to middle rounds. In the late rounds, Floyd will be "Floyd" because he will start throwing his precise punches and defending himself with his shoulder roll defense.

On September 17, Ortiz is predicted by many experts to fall in the late rounds or lose to a decision.

How about you, what is your prediction?

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Ortiz has higher KO percentage than Mayweather

"Vicious" Victor Ortiz, who used to be 'nobody' in the boxing world, has suddenly become boxing's newest star because of hyping the upcoming Mayweather vs Ortiz fight. Ortiz won against the undefeated Andre Berto in April and acquired the WBC Welterweight Belt.

Ortiz [won 29 (KO 22) + lost 2 (KO 1) + drawn 2 = 33] has a higher KO percentage compared to Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather Jr [won 41 (KO 25) + lost 0 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 41]. At 66.67 %, he is much better than Floyd's 60.98 knockout percentage. Victor is one of the most entertaining boxers today. He showed the world, in his recent fights, that he is one of the best in the 147-lb division.

Victor Ortiz is going to defend his WBC Welterweight Belt against Mayweather well-over a month from now. He is bigger and younger than Floyd but his skills will be tested against the undefeated tactician.

Floyd is known as one of the most versatile boxers in the history of the sport. Even with his boring style of boxing, he is still one of the best out there. Based on the Mayweather vs Ortiz tale of the tape, there are no significant advantages over the other boxer which makes this fight very amusing.

Ortiz wants to fight power with power and speed with speed. He is not afraid to exchange barrage of punches with his opponent as long as he lands a solid punch. He has the higher knockout percentage compared to Floyd, but the question is, will he be able to hit him with good and effective punches?

Ortiz vs Mayweather is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

The undercard will also feature Mexican Josesito Lopez taking on fellow Mexican Jesse Vargas. The event will take place on Saturday, September 17 and will begin at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

Based on the expert predictions on Mayweather-Ortiz, Floyd is heavily favored to win. The fight is expected to be very entertaining in the first few rounds but Mayweather will prevail in the later rounds. Ortiz is a younger and bigger boxer compared to Floyd and he will give the undefeated American a lot of problem when they fight each inside the ring but he is foreseen to lose the fight.

He is now tagged as one of boxing's newest star because of his entertainment factor. He is the kind of boxer who wants to exchange punch for punch and don't care if he's hurt as long as he throws a solid punch to his opponent.

"Money" Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) may have a smaller KO percentage compared to Victor but his power is real. He is a warrior who is very fast and strong and can elude any boxer. He has precise punching ability and he preserves his powerful punches and only releases it if it has higher possibility to land to his opponent's body or face.

Just over a month from now Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz will clash. The former's WBC Welterweight Belt will be on the line. Both boxers want to win. Only one will win and the one with the biggest heart will be victorious.

See the prediction video below and share your thoughts on the upcoming fight.

Official Poster for Ortiz-Mayweather September 17 Fight

The Mayweather vs Ortiz Official Poster has finally been released by Golden Boy Promotions, the main promoter of the upcoming fight between undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr and Mexican-American Victor Ortiz. The mega-event which will co-feature Alvarez vs Gomez and Morales vs Matthysse will be televised on HBO pay-per-view. It is co-promoted by Mayweather Promotions, Tecate, DeWalt and AT&T.

Because both Mayweather and Ortiz are considered to be stars, the official poster is titled as Star Power. Floyd Mayweather is one of the biggest draw in boxing today, comparable to Manny Pacquiao, while Ortiz is boxing's newest star after beating Andre Berto and winning the WBC Welterweight Belt, the same belt he will defend against Mayweather on September 17 inside the MGM Grand.

The Mayweather vs Ortiz official poster below is the vertical design, the horizontal design will also be released by Golden Boy Promotions, a company owned by Oscar de la Hoya who believes he has the formula to beat Mayweather.

Expert Predictions on Mayweather-Ortiz Fight

Many are already frantic to see Floyd Mayweather Jr versus Victor Ortiz on September 17 inside the see-out MGM Grand Arena. The fight, titled as Star Power, will be televised on HBO pay-per-view. Boxing enthusiasts and analysts have different views of the fight but 95% are favor of Floyd winning the super-fight.

Victor Ortiz, who recently won against the then undefeated Andre Berto, will defend his WBC Welterweight Belt. The fight will have no "catchweight", it will happen at the 147 lbs division. If someone is above the weight limit, he will be penalized.

On a recent video (see below) released by HBO (Home Box Office), experts shared their predictions on what will happen in the Mayweather vs Ortiz showdown. Many predicted that Floyd will win this fight but Ortiz will give Floyd a hard time.

"I'm facing one of the best fighters of all time," Ortiz said. "It was a dream of mine as a little kid," he added. "I can't overlook Victor Ortiz," said Mayweather during the Mayweather vs Ortiz press conference.

"If you add all those ingredients together, it makes for a compelling match," said George Willis, a columnist of New York Post. "I think it will be a lot more competitive than many people think, maybe I think right now," he added. "I still think Floyd has tremendous talent and he is the best out there so I see him winning the fight.

According to Bert Sugar, a boxing historian, "Floyd is brilliant at what he does. What does he do? He's a great defensive fighter then he draws the lead then he counters with precision". When asked who will win, he answered "I think Floyd in a late round knockout. Yeah, he is the Floyd Mayweather Jr of old".

"I think Victor Ortiz is a wildcard," said Tim Smith, a columnist of NY Daily News. "And I think anytime you have a wildcard there is a certain amount of entry that is young, strong and powerful".

"This guy Victor Ortiz is a great young fighter. He is a southpaw which Floyd historically has had trouble with but he comes straight at you. If Floyd doesn't handle anybody quite as well at guys that come straight at you so expect Victor to put up a great fight but I pick Floyd to win in classic Floyd fashion", according to Chris Mannix, a staff writer of Sports Illustrated. "I learn my lesson a long time ago to stop picking against Floyd because every time I do I get bitterly disappointed on the outcome."

"Victor is very tough, he is very rugged, I think we saw it in his last fight against Andre Berto that he is very durable, he's got the chin. I do think Floyd is the premiere fighter of this generation and I think he's gonna do enough to get away with the victory," as predicted by Bryan Graham, a writer of Sports Illustrated.

"We're gonna see a great fight, I don't know, again, what's type of shape Mayweather's gonna be in. We know he can take a punch if he is back to his 'Maywether fighting abilities', then it's gonna be very difficult for Ortiz to win this fight," said Tom Umstead, a programming editor of Multichannel News.

"Experience is a vast, vast advantage for Floyd in this fight," said one Boxing Analyst. "It's gonna be an exciting fight but I think that Floyd comes out on top."

There you have it, the predictions of some of the experts of boxing. Mayweather is the favorite but Ortiz is expected to have a surprise.

The Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz fight will be on Saturday, Sept 17. Broadcast will start at 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT.

If you have your own predictions on the upcoming fight, please share it on the comment box below.

Oscar has formula to defeat Mayweather

Only two boxers came close to winning against Floyd Mayweather Jr., they were Oscar de la Hoya and Jose Luis Castillo. The closest to defeating Floyd Jr was Oscar in May 5, 2007 where the fight was ruled a split decision in favor of Grand Rapids native.

Oscar de la Hoya is the president of Golden Boy Promotions, a competitor of Top Rank Promotions and Don King Promotions. Oscar, even though he lost to Mayweather four years ago, said that he knows the formula to defeat Floyd "Money" Mayweather and he will reveal it to Victor Ortiz.

De la Hoya and Ortiz are good friends and they are both Mexican-Americans. Several years ago, de la Hoya is the prize fighter who always fights in the weekend after Mexican Independence Day; this time, it will be Ortiz's moment.

"Me and Castillo have been the closest in beating Mayweather. Believe me I have the formula which I'm going to pass on to Victor," de la Hoya posted on his Twitter account.

De la Hoya is a 10-time world champion and he one of the most popular boxers in his generation. He retired from the sport after fighting Manny Pacquiao and suffering from an 8th round TD (Technical Decision).

The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight is set to happen atop the ring inside the luxurious MGM Grand Arena in the sin city. It will be Floyd's 1st bout after a 16-month break from boxing; his last fight was against Shane Mosley in May 2010.

"I'm not anti-mayweather I'm just rooting for the underdog," de la Hoya added to his tweets.

Undercard Alvarez vs Gomez fight prediction

One of the things that make the forthcoming Mayweather vs Ortiz fight very exciting is that the Alvarez vs Gomez fight will be on the undercard. The mega-event titled as Star Power will be televised via HBO pay-per-view but there will be two locations for the fights.

Saul Alvarez, a native of Jalisco, Mexico, will defend his WBC (World Boxing Council) Light Middleweight Belt against fellow Mexican Alfonso Gomez on September 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. They will be the main event inside the complex but this fight (Alvarez vs Gomez) will be part of the undercard which features the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz.

As predicted by many boxing analysts, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez won't have a hard time fighting Alfonso Gomez because he has all the advantages you can think of - experience, youth, power, speed and defense. Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KO’s) is ranked number 6 in the world while Alvarez is ranked number 1. There's no reason for an undefeated fast-rising Mexican boxing star to lose against a much older and inexperience fighter.

Many believed this Alvarez vs Gomez fight is a mismatch and it should not be part of the Ortiz vs Mayweather mega-bout.

Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KO’s), who recently fought and won against Ryan Rhodes and Matthew Hatton, is the bigger and stronger fighter. He will be facing a b-class fighter who has lost four times and doesn't have the enough speed to elude him.

Gomez has problems with body shots and Alvarez is very good at exploiting it. He doesn't stand a chance against the much better Saul even if he box his way until the fight goes the distance.

Morales vs Matthysse may be a much better match-up than Alvarez vs Gomez because of the entertaining factor of both Erik Morales and Lucas Matthyse. Eric and Lucas will fight on the same Mawyeather vs Ortiz location - the 16,800 capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Golden boy will exert more effort to promote the fights which will happen in two locations - which will feature Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz. See the Mayweather vs Ortiz tale of the tape to check who has the advantage.

Location of the Floyd-Victor Fight

For those who don't know the location of the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz, it will be at the MGM Grand Garden Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The Mayweather vs Ortiz location is deemed to be the best spot to hold this mega-event in the sport of boxing because tickets, even if they are expensive, sold-out fast.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather is considered as boxing's biggest star while "Vicious" Victor Ortiz is considered as boxing's newest star after beating Andre Berto and acquiring the WBC (World Boxing Council) Welterweight Belt which he is going to defend in the upcoming September 17 fight.

Mexican legend Erik Morales will be part of the undercard. He will fight Argentinean Lucas Matthyse who is believed to be a serious threat to Morales' career. Included in the undercard will be Jesus Vargas vs Josesito Lopes who are both Mexican-American.

Before the Mayweather vs Ortiz mega-fight, there will be a mega-fight to be held in another location. Mexican fast-rising star Saul "Canelo"Alvarez will fight Alfonso Gomez on a different venue. The fight will take place at the staples center but it will be aired on the same broadcast.

This is the first time that HBO and Golden Boy Promotions will produce a mega-event which will happen in two locations. This is because the fight is scheduled on a weekend after the Mexican Independence Day and Mexican's expect a big-time bout to take place.

Even with Victor Ortiz's American nationality - because he was born in Garden City, Kansas - his fighting spirit is still Mexican. He is fast and strong and he is not afraid of anybody including the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd is predicted to win this fight but Victor will give it his all to bring a hefty amount home plus the pride of being the first boxer to win against the sport's biggest draw.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena is situated in the MGM Grand in Paradise and is patterned after New York's Madison Square Garden. The stadium has a seating capability of 16,800 people and is located at 3799 Las Vegas Boulevard South.

The Staples Center is a multi-purpose sports arena in Downtown Los Angeles. Adjacent to the L.A. Live development, it is located next to the Los Angeles Convention Center complex along Figueroa Street. Opened on October 17, 1999, it is one of the major sporting amenities in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and Greater Los Angeles Area.

Undercard Morales confirms he is crazy

Erik "El Terible" Morales, the last boxer to win against Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao, believes that he will win against Lucas Matthysse on September 17 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. During the press conference, together with other Mexican pugilists Jesse Vargas and Josesito Lopez, he said these lines:

"I have seen a lot of comments on Facebook. People saying I am crazy and I want to confirm that I am crazy. I am crazy about what I do. This is a sport that I participate in with a lot of love and a lot of heart. People question me, but I know that I love to fight and I want to fight. I will be ready September 17. The Mexicans can have a great party and celebrate when I am victorious."

Morales is one of the greatest boxers of Mexico - comparable to Juan Manuel Marquez. He is a very entertaining fighter and he knows how to adapt the fighting styles of his opponents. In the Morales vs Matthysse fight in the Mayweather vs Ortiz undercard, Erik is the underdog. Many believed that Lucas is still virtually undefeated because his two losses were very close - against Zab Judah and Devon Alexander - and many believed he won those fights.

September 17 will be the weekend after Mexican Independence Day and many boxing fans from Mexico will surely watch the fight not only inside the sell-out MGM Grand Arena but also on HBO pay-per-view. Vargas vs Lopez will also be part of the Ortiz vs Mayweather undercard. Saul Alvarez vs Alfonso Gomez is also part of the undercard but they will fight at the Staples Center, a different venue.

Golden Boy Promotions will exert extra efforts in promoting the fight dubbed as Star Power: Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz. The Face-off with Max Kellerman and the HBO 24/7 Mayweather vs Ortiz Preview video are already released by Home Box Office. The Episode 1 of the Mayweather vs Ortiz 24/7 will be released on August 27.

After the collapse of the Morales vs Jorge Barrios fight, because Barrios' camp couldn't settle the visa going to the US, Golden Boy chose Matthysse which is a better fighter than Jorge. The Morales vs Matthyse fight will be very thrilling because both boxers won't back out from any exchange of punches unless they leave the last big punch.

Morales vs Matthysse on Floyd-Ortiz Undercard

Jorge Barrios of Argentina was initially scheduled to fight Mexican boxing legend Eric Morales on September 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of the undercard of the much-discussed Mayweather vs Ortiz fight which will be televised on HBO PPV.

Many thought Barrios' issues regarding his visa to fight in the United States will be settled. His camp was unable to resolve the issues, so Barrios is still 'barred' from fighting Morales. This is the second time the Morales vs Barrios fight fell. They were first scheduled to meet in late 2010 but the same visa issue hindered Jorge.

As a replacement to the Barrios, fellow Argentinean Lucas Matthysse will be his replacement to fight Erik "El Terrible" Morales. The Morales vs Matthysse fight will give the boxing fans more reasons to buy the Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz Tickets or the HBO PPV.

Lucas Martin Matthysse is a tough boxer and lost to two close fights - against Zab Judah and Devon Alexander. Both of his losses were Split Decisions.

Erik Morales is one of the three boxers who won against Filipino boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao, a former resident of General Santos in the Philippines. He is a tough fighter but he is expected to have a tough time against Lucas Matthysse.

Morales last fought Marcos Maidana, another tough Argentinean brawler. Even with his losing effort, he was given praise for his entertainment factor and the heart he bring into his game.

In the Morales vs Matthysse fight, the WBC super lightweight title will be on the line. If Erik Morales wins this bout, he will become the first Mexican professional pugilist to hold championship belts in four different weight classes.
